This page has examples of how to cite different kinds of sources on a Chicago Manual Style Bibliography page.  Remember that Bibliography page citations are slightly different from the Footnote citations you may have already done.   Bibliography page citations should be single-spaced, with a hanging indent, and each citation should be in alphabetical order by the author’s last name.

Books – These citations begin with the author last name, then the first name, followed by the book title in italics, then the publisher, and finally the year the book was published.  Don’t forget to include the necessary periods and comma.

Smith, Zadie. Swing Time. Penguin Press, 2016.

eBooks – An eBook is cited similarly to a regular book but you list the name of digital store or URL where you accessed the eBook.  List the digital store if the eBook must be purchased to access and the URL if the eBook is available freely on a website.

Roy, Arundhati. The God of Small Things. Random House, 2008. Kindle.

Journal Articles

Shao-Hsun, Chun-Hung Lin, and Peter F. Orazem. “Expanding College Access in Taiwan, 1978–2014: Effects on Graduate Quality and Income Inequality.” Journal of Human >Capital 11, no. 1 (Spring 2017): 1–34. https://doi.org/10.1086/690235.

Website articles with an author – This is when you are citing an article that has the author listed.  This is most common with newspaper and magazine articles found online.

Manjoo, Farhad. “Snap Makes a Bet on the Cultural Supremacy of the Camera.” New York Times, March 8, 2017, https://www.nytimes.com/snapmakesabet

Website articles with no author – This example is for when you are citing a website that is not a newspaper or a magazine and has no author.
